Is a toddler car seat with a bar that goes up and down in the front safe? ?
My sister gave me a car seat to use with my 14month old daughter. It is about 6 years old and it has a bar in front that snaps in place. I have noticed that the new car seats don’t have this bar is it because it was deemed unsafe?
yea its illegal to use that, those particular ones are very dangerous, im guessing its a T-Shield, imagine if u had to stop short that would slam into her chest, and even though theres no car accident, she still might get hurt from that impact with her chest…
i have a 5 point harness car seat that is technically expired, but i use it cause i only have the toddler (2 years old) in my car a few times a week
but please read this answer that someone wrote out, its realllly goood about car seats:

HELL NO. You should never use a used car seat if you can avoid it, they are not up to par with new safety standards.

Yes…it’s unsafe. Don’t use it. A 5-point harness is safer and better. This article explains it:

Car seats are made to use only 4 years at most. It may look fine but break if you have an accident. Its worth the money to get one that will last until she’s in a booster.

Get a new one. They don’t make those anymore and there has to be a reason. They have a cute pink one at walmart for under $50.00 if money is a problem. Better to be safe than sorry.

Sorry but they are dinosaurs and for safety reasons are illegal where I live.

Any seat that old is probably no longer good because the plastic deteriorates.
