Can you point me to booster seats with five-point harnesses?

I swear I saw a couple of these on-line, but I can’t remember exactly what I Googled for and I am now, rather inexplicably, having a hard time finding them. High-back boosters with a five-point belt — these exist, right? Thinking of getting a new seat for a new car, for a 3yo.

Any reviews/comments on these…? How many years of use is it realistic to expect from such a seat?

Excellent price and it’s been very sturdy. We’ve used it for our son since he was 3 and this is what we will be getting our daughter when she outgrows her convertible 5-point harness seat.

Sure you can spend $200+ on a fancy booster seat… or you can get the safety benefits needed and not break the bank.

The Nautilus is the best (IMO) because it has the highest harness heights. The Evenflo Momentum is my 2nd choice, also has high harness slots.

My 7 year old neice can still use both of these as a 5 point harness, so you’ll get lots of use. The ones to stay away from are the 3-in-1 by Eddie Bauer, Safety First, Cosco. They don’t make good belt positioning boosters.

EDIT: Totally forgot about the Britax Frontier, that harness goes up to 85 lb. So put that one in as my 2nd favorite. Naulitis is still #1 because of lower price. You don’t need a convertable like someone mentioned, those are for rear facing as well.

what you need is a convertable carseat. one that will work until they are 100 lbs. they are also for infants too, they have the 5 point harness and a belt positioner too for when they get old enough for that.

Here is a website with quite a few of them on here. I know you live in Canda, but if you found one you liked, maybe you could find it in your area:

My son (now 7) used to have one and we used it as a backup in my parents’ vehicles. His was a Summit ( I think), we got a good 3 years use out of it and it doesn’t expire until 2012. My daughter is 14 months though and she has a Graco My Ride 65. So she will be in that for a while. She just weighs 21 pounds.
You could get use out of it until your daughter is probably around 6. My son was always bigger than average and we switched over to using the lap/shoulder belt with his high back booster at around 4 I think. They have to be 40 pounds to not use the harness anymore, right? Someone correct me if I am wrong, please.

My daughter has the Grace Nautilus 3-in-1 carseat that you can use the 5 point harness up to 65lbs.

We’ve had my oldest in a high back booster with a five point harness since he hit 30 lbs at about age 3, I think?. We have the Eddie Bauer one. We have yet to use it with the belt positioning, as he is still only 38 lbs, so I cant comment on that. We honestly thought we would be out of the five point by now, but at 5yo, he still hasn’t hit 40 lbs.

Britax Frontier or Radian would be my choice. The Radian actually RFs to 45 lbs and FF in a 5 pt harness to 85 lbs. I’m about to buy one and turn my 3 yo RF again. Both run about $300 US, unless you find them on sale.

We picked up a high backed booster with a 5 point harness (I think here they tend to be marketed as simply "forward facing" seats) a bit before my son turned 2. His convertible seat was about to expire and it made very little sense to get another convertible seat; these high backed booster/harness things meet the minimum forward facing requirements.

When I was looking for them online, I found them lumped in the "high backed booster" category with the ones that didn’t have harnesses. We have this one http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_024W696779110001P?vName=Baby&cName=Baby+Gear+%26+Travel&sName=Car+Seats&prdNo=18 and are more or less pleased with it. It’s a bit lower end but we’ve had it for almost 2 years. It seems to be holding up well except for wear and tear (and stains and whatnot) on the fabric. My son’s sitting height is about normal for his age and we haven’t needed to move the straps up to the highest level yet. We should have no problems keeping him in the harness until he’s past 4.

I just bought the Britax Frontier 85 for my 3.5 year old daughter. It is a 5 point harness booster seat until 85 pounds, and a belt positioning booster until 120 pounds.
    http://www.britaxusa.com/car-seats/frontier-85

We love this seat, and so does Hannah. Very comfortable, very easy to install. We have had all Britax car seats, and have quite happy with them.

Hannah technically still fits in her Britax carseat, but we bought the booster since it sits a bit lower in the seat then the carseat, and it is easier for her to get in and out of.

I am planning on keeping Hannah in a 5 point harness for as long as possible since they are so much safer then a belt positioning booster.

We have 2 carseats, one is a Britax Marathon (not what you are looking for) and the other is the Nautilus, which my mom and stepdad use. It’s a wonderful seat, very comfortable and it’s a high back booster w/a 5 point harness. It can be converted down to just a booster w/no back. I’m very pleased w/this seat and when my son outgrows the Marathon I have in my car, I plan on buying this seat to replace it.

Oh, and while I’m completely satisfied w/the Britax seats, the Nautilus is alot cheaper than the Britax high back booster. That’s why I’m going that route when I need to change seats for my son. :)

I had convertible seats for both my girls, but decided to upgrade the almost 3 yr olds so we could put her old one in dad’s car. Anyways I asked this same question :

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqlZbPsJlrqGNlKor3FT7a3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100629182123AAdQJZS

and got the Graco Nautilus. We just love it b/c we won’t have to buy another seat……..plus it offers more support around their head and neck then some of the cheaper ones do. You can check it out for yourself, but it goes 5 pt booster for 65 pounds (which will probably be until 6 or 7 for my skinny daughter), then high back booster for 80 pds, and then regular booster up to 100 pounds. I don’t know what kinds of stores you have in Canada, but I ordered it cheaper on walmart.com and had it delivered to the store. It was around $150.

EDIT the problem with a lot of the cheaper booster seats with a harness is they only go to 40lbs…………I’d be sure it went to at least 65.
